Add-on In-Person Learning Experiences

We have curated a special selection of experiences for you to explore the city of Chicago with a commercial real estate, development, and thought-provoking lens. 

They are exclusively for registered attendees of the Coldwell Banker Commercial Global Conference and their guests. Some are perfect if you are coming in early on Monday, and some are great if you are staying later on Thursday. They have an additional fee and are first-come, first-serve with very limited availability.

Tours with Mike

About the host

Mike McMains has spent his adult life focused on buildings. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2000 with a degree in Real Estate & Urban Planning and Finance, Investments & Banking, he worked for PGIM Real Estate (formerly Prudential Real Estate Investors), 5 years on the commercial mortgage side and another 12 years in the real estate equity group. In his free time, he volunteered for 15 years for the Chicago Architecture Center creating some of that organization's most popular tours and delivering countless experiences to people from around the world. Now Mike's profession is his passion through Tours With Mike as he makes architecture, design, and history fun and interesting through a combination of in-person and virtual experiences!

Incredible Interiors Tour 

Discover Chicago's great indoors from design legends including Daniel Burnham, Louis Sullivan, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Tiffany Studios. All the featured architecture was completed between the 1880s and 1930s, and buildings certainly are not made like this anymore! While strolling through landmark office lobbies, grand hotels, legendary department stores, and more, we'll focus on concepts like historic preservation and adaptive reuse highlighting how these one-of-a-kind buildings thrive today.

Wrigleyville Tour 

Before the Chicago Cubs play their opening day game later that day at historic Wrigley Field, explore Wrigleyville and its fascinating stories! In addition to learning all about one of the country's most celebrated sports venues dating back to 1914, you'll discover neighborhood landmarks predating the iconic ballpark and see exciting new construction from the Ricketts family expanding the entertainment district.

Chicago Architecture Center

About the CAC

The Chicago Architecture Center (CAC) was founded in 1966 as the Chicago Architecture Foundation to save the historic Glessner House. Since then, the CAC has grown to become one of the largest cultural organizations in Chicago. For more than 50 years, our educators, 450 volunteer docents and 150 guest services volunteers have shared the stories of Chicago architecture with millions of Chicagoans and visitors. The CAC serves more than 500,000 guests and audience members annually.

Historic Treasures of Chicago’s Golden Age

Learn about the great architecture landmarks of Michigan Avenue and State Street. The 40 years between 1890 and 1930 saw the creation of some of Chicago’s most memorable buildings, many of which are featured on this tour.

Walk Through Time Tour 

This private VIP tour hosted by Managing Director, Dan Spiegel, is a 90-minute tour and takes a comprehensive look at Chicago’s architectural history by viewing buildings in chronological order, from early skyscrapers to new supertall high rises.
